On December 4, 1974, Dorothy Steinberg decided to do some Christmas shopping. She should have stayed home; for as she was walking along a sidewalk in front of an appliance store, a car operated by Peter Vida came across the sidewalk from an abutting parking lot, struck her, and pushed her through the store window.
