The defendant, Francis Ferrara, was indicted by a grand jury and charged with murder, in violation of § 53a-54a of the General Statutes, to which offense he pleaded not guilty. His jury trial in the Superior Court resulted in a conviction of manslaughter in the first degree, based on the defendant's part in the knife slaying of Martin R. Blizzard an the night of December 31, 1973. The trial court denied the defendant's motion to set aside the verdict...
