On April 12, 1978, at a jury trial in the Circuit Court for Allegany County (Getty, J., presiding), the appellant, Charles William Davis, Jr., was convicted of murder in the first degree and the use of a handgun in the commission of that crime of violence. The murder victim was Mrs. Kathleen Cook, who was shot to death behind a shopping center parking lot in Baltimore County on the night of December 31, 1975. Mrs. Cook...
