The appellant (defendant) was arrested on November 22, 1977, for driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor. Prior to trial, the defendant moved to suppress certain statements he made to the patrolman at the time of his arrest. The trial court refused to permit an evidentiary hearing on the motion to suppress and refused an offer of proof.
