In a letter "To Number 1365" declining once more to sanction a dramatization of "Tom Sawyer", Mark Twain once wrote of a fictitious experience as a western college professor, whereupon a Piute squaw intending to honor him named her baby for him, "a voluntary compliment" which pleased him greatly but brought about devastating and unforeseen consequences.1<...
