Defendants appeal from a Court of Claims judgment in favor of plaintiffs arising out of a wrongful death action and a personal injury action.

Plaintiffs allege that the Michigan Department of State Highways and Transportation failed to keep a public highway "reasonably safe and fit for travel" as required by MCL 691.1402; MSA 3.996(102).
