This case arose out of a two-year scheme to import large quantities of marijuana into the United States from the Republic of Mexico. The scheme, more notable for its spectacular failures than for its successes, was at last brought to a halt by various law enforcement agencies following the importation of two plane loads of marijuana into South Texas from Mexico.
