OPINION

BEVILACQUA, Chief Justice.

This is an appeal in a civil action brought by Etienne R. Soucy (Soucy) against Armand Martin (defendant)1 for personal injuries. Following the entry of an adverse jury verdict finding him 75% negligent, the defendant filed a motion for a new trial. The trial justice denied that motion.
