They brought this declaratory judgment suit (ORS chapter 28) against various administrative officers and faculty members of the college, seeking a declaration that plaintiffs are entitled to higher grades in a geology course than they actually received, and that the defendants are required to take all necessary measures to reflect the higher grades on the college records.
