On November 24, 1976, defendant was arrested for and charged with the crime of carrying a concealed weapon without a license. MCL 750.227; MSA 28.424. Subsequently, on September 13, 1977, he pleaded guilty to the offense and was given a sentence of 40 to 60 months in the state prison.
