The appellants' daughter was born on March 5, 1974, at Shands Teaching Hospital, part of the University of Florida Medical School, in Gainesville, Florida. On March 4, 1976, one day before the limitations period in § 95.11(4)(b), Fla. Stat. (1975), would have expired, appellants filed a medical malpractice claim, seeking damages from Shands, the J. Hillis Miller Health Center and the State of Florida as defendants for the alleged negligent delivery...
