After a two-day jury trial commencing on 12 September 1978 the defendant, Lawrence Edward Berryman, was convicted of armed bank robbery (18 U.S.C. § 2113(a)) and carrying a weapon during the commission of the robbery (18 U.S.C. § 924(c)).
