The defendant English was indicted for first degree murder. La. R.S. 14:30 (1976). He is charged with the intentional killing of Roland Lampris on September 5, 1977. He pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity. After trial by jury, he was found guilty as charged. After the post-verdict sentencing hearing, La.C.Cr.P. arts. 905.1-905.9 (1976), the jury unanimously recommended that the death penalty be imposed...
