The defendant was convicted of murder in the first degree and is appealing therefrom under the provisions of G.L. 278, §§ 33A-33G. This appeal has been consolidated with the defendant's pending motion for a new trial, which he brought following the release of our decision in Commonwealth v. Vitello, 376 Mass. 426, 451-457 (1978), concerning the proper evidentiary use of polygraph test results...
