MOWBRAY, Justice:

The respondents, Herman F. and F. Jean Strecker, commenced this action against appellant, A. Fred Sanguinetti, seeking cancellation of certain deeds in the name of Sanguinetti to property they owned, known as Logan Shoals Harbor, on Lake Tahoe. The complaint was predicated on an allegation of fraud and was later amended to include a prayer for compensatory and punitive damages.
