The Waldo County Grand Jury returned two indictments against Charles Heald for the 1973 felonious homicides punishable as murder (17 M.R.S.A. § 2651, since repealed and now replaced by 17-A M.R.S.A. §§ 201, 202) of Joaquin and Florence Bettencourt. Heald moved for a change of venue, which was granted, and the cases were transferred to Penobscot County where, after jury trial and convictions for both murders, judgments were appropriately...
