This is a direct appeal from convictions of first-degree murder (K.S.A. 21-3401) and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer (K.S.A. 21-3411). This prosecution arose out of an occurrence which took place on October 19, 1976, in Kansas City, Kansas.
