This is an action for modification of a divorce decree entered on January 29, 1976, which contained the following provisions relevant to this appeal:
"IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that there has been born to Petitioner and Respondent, as a result of this marriage, one child, namely, Vicki Jonnette, born June 14, 1970; that the Petitioner is a fit and proper person to have the care, custody and control of the minor child of the parties...
