JORDAN, Justice.

This court granted certiorari to review the decision of the Court of Appeals in Melton v. Bow, 145 Ga.App. 272 (243 S.E.2d 590) (1978), a case in which Michael L. Bow brought an action against Dr. Charles E. Melton for slander and libel. The jury returned a verdict for Bow in the amount of $200,000, and the Court of Appeals affirmed.
