Jessie E. McMillian was indicted, tried and convicted in the Circuit Court of Grenada County for the murder of James Harvey. The shooting occurred on September 1, 1973, and the trial took place on February 7, 1974. McMillian was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Mississippi State Penitentiary.
