The defendant, Ramon Cruz, was charged with the murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1975, ch. 38, par. 9-1) of Julio Reyes. He was found guilty of the lesser included offense of voluntary manslaughter (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1975, ch. 38, par. 9-2), and not guilty of attempt murder of Officer Ronald Nally. Cruz was sentenced to the Department of Corrections for not less than two and not...
