The appellant and Johnny Westbrook were indicted for the murders and kidnappings with bodily injury of Mrs. Ann Kaplan and Mrs. Thelma Kalish. They were tried separately and convicted. The appellant received the death penalty for the murder convictions and life imprisonment sentences for the kidnapping-with-bodily-injury convictions.
