On March 8, 1969, Cynthia E. Haller, then 5 years of age, was injured when she ran from behind a parked car and was struck by a vehicle driven by Guffrey H. Wallis, now deceased. According to reports of eyewitnesses, the vehicle was proceeding at about 10 to 15 miles per hour and swerved sharply to the right in an apparent attempt to avoid hitting the child.
