After a jury trial, Barnes was found guilty of two counts of passing forged money orders in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 500 and was sentenced to concurrent terms of five years' imprisonment. On appeal, he contends that the evidence was insufficient as a matter of law to establish that he knew the money orders were stolen or forged, and thus that he passed the orders with intent to defraud.
