SMITH, J., delivered the opinion of the Court.

Appellee, Alma B. Todd (Mrs. Todd), sued appellant, The First National Bank of St. Mary's County (the Bank), and one of its employees for malicious prosecution. A Calvert County jury returned a verdict of $4,000 for compensatory damages against both defendants and $8,000 punitive damages against the Bank. Only the Bank appealed. We granted the writ of certiorari before the matter...
