Following a jury trial held January 19-24, 1977, defendant was found guilty but mentally ill1 of armed robbery. MCL 750.529; MSA 28.797. He was sentenced to a prison term of 25-40 years and appeals as of right. The basic issue involved in this appeal is one of prosecutorial comment upon the disposition of a defendant found not guilty by reason of insanity.
