Mr. PRESIDING JUSTICE GOLDBERG delivered the opinion of the court:

Thomas Yancey (defendant) was tried jointly before a jury with Nathaniel Brown, Jr. (codefendant). Both were found guilty of murder. Defendant was sentenced to 75 to 90 years. He appeals. The judgment and sentence of codefendant were affirmed after a separate appeal to this court. (People v. Brown (1977), 55 Ill.App.3d 569
