CALLOW, J.

Andrew Alexis appeals his conviction for rape and assault. The appellant's codefendant, Jefferson Sawyer, was also convicted. We find the representation of both defendants by one attorney deprived the defendant of the effective assistance of counsel, reverse the conviction and remand the cause for a new trial.
