On the afternoon of May 16, 1977 a sixteen-year-old high school girl student was walking from school to her home on Wright Avenue in Jefferson Parish. A man driving an orange Volkswagen hatchback drew up beside her and asked for directions which she was unable to give him. As she was walking away, the man stopped the car and began to honk the horn.
