The Grand Jury of Orleans Parish indicted Earl J. Schmitt, Jr., for the theft of two million four hundred thousand dollars worth of treasury bills, a violation of LSAR.S. 14:67. Schmitt, an attorney, elected to represent himself at trial. The jury found him guilty as charged.
