On October 5, 1975, Joseph Calecas, Jr. drove his car to the New Orleans Lakefront accompanied by Everett Rowe and a large dog belonging to Mrs. Rowe. Calecas parked his vehicle on the lake side of Lakeshore Drive and got out of the car to observe some sailboats. The dog was in the back seat and the car windows were open. In the next few moments with Rowe still in the right front seat of the car, the dog jumped through an open window on the left side...
