Eugene Stripling, Andrew Johnson and Arthur Crossland were indicted by the grand jury of Orleans Parish for aggravated rape committed on December 30, 1974. La.Crim.Code art. 42. During their joint trial a directed verdict was granted in favor of Crossland. Stripling and Johnson were convicted and sentenced to death. Thereafter, on Stripling's motion the sentence of death was vacated, and he was sentenced...
