Lamb's Patio Theatre brought this private antitrust action for treble damages against Universal Film Exchanges on September 3, 1974. The complaint alleged that Universal violated the Sherman Antitrust Act, 15 U.S.C. §§ 1 and 2, by rejecting Lamb's bid for the movie, "The Sting," as part of a conspiracy with Plitt Theatres, the operator of the Gateway Theatre, to monopolize showing of the film on the northwest side of Chicago.
