On August 26, 1974 the plaintiffs, Beverly and Eugene Waddell, instituted an action in the Superior Court of Kennebec County against the defendant, Robert Briggs. In their initial complaint, the plaintiffs alleged that the defendant had been engaged to their seventeen year old daughter, Kathy, and that the couple had intended to marry on the tenth of the month...
