On June 17, 1976, the grand jury indicted appellant, Shao T. Hsu, for one count of perjury, D.C.Code 1973, § 22-2501.1 After a two-day trial on September 9 and 10, 1976 — at which Dr. Hsu represented himself — the jury returned a verdict of guilty. On September 22, 1976, following the denial of his motion for a new trial, the court sentenced Dr. Hsu to prison for a term of twenty months to eight...
