After a jury trial, Neil Varney, hereinafter the defendant, was convicted of murder and sentenced to a term of 50-99 years. On appeal the defendant contends that his statements to the police and State's Attorney should not have been admitted as evidence because the defendant did not waive his right to have counsel present at his interrogation.
