On June 7, 1976, appellants Anthony and Carl Locks were each indicted on five counts of grand larceny (D.C.Code 1973, § 22-2201) and five counts of uttering a check with intent to defraud (D.C.Code 1973, § 22-1410). Their joint trial commenced on October 14, 1976. Five days later, the jury found Anthony Locks guilty on three counts of each offense charged and convicted his brother, Carl Locks, on two counts of each charge. The trial...
