This appeal arises from the termination of Hertha H. Krotkoff's position as a tenured professor at Goucher College.1 Krotkoff sued Goucher, alleging that it violated the tenure provision of her contract. The college asserts that it eliminated Krotkoff's position and terminated her contract as part of a general retrenchment prompted by severe financial problems.
