This controversy began when the plaintiffs brought a complaint in the Chittenden Superior Court to enjoin both the demolition of a certain house located on Williams Street in Burlington, known as the Bishop's House, and the construction of a parking lot in its place. The court enjoined the defendant Medical Center Hospital of Vermont, Inc., the owner of the Bishop's House, from proceeding with its construction plans until the applicability of Vermont...
