The defendant, Gregory Thorns, was charged by indictment with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder in connection with an August 10, 1974, shooting incident in which Roger Booker was killed. After a jury trial in the circuit court of Cook County, Thorns was found guilty of attempted murder and sentenced for a term of five to 15 years...
