Defendant, John E. Jones, was indicted for the attempt murder of William James (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1975, ch. 38, par. 8-4) and attempt armed robbery of Kathryn James (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1975, ch. 38, par. 8-4). After a jury trial in the circuit court of Cook County, he was found guilty of attempt armed robbery, but not guilty of attempt murder.
