At approximately 12:30 a.m. on September 7, 1974, defendant Coleman, Eric Walker, and another man entered the house of Mike Terry and Jim Johnson in Springfield, Illinois. Defendant identified himself as Solomon Burke, Illinois Bureau of Investigation agent, then displayed a badge and gun telling the people in the house, "This is a bust."
