HALL, Justice.

After the Court of Appeals reversed Westberry's convictions for burglary and theft by taking on the ground that the state had improperly been allowed to impeach its own witness by introducing evidence of her prior inconsistent statement incriminating Westberry, we granted certiorari upon the state's petition in order to decide whether the Court of Appeals' treatment of the issue is consistent with our recent decisions of Wilson v. State,
