The petitioner is serving a sentence in North Carolina which commenced after he escaped from the South Carolina Department of Corrections in 1968. He was committed to the Department by the Court of General Sessions for Newberry County, the Honorable J. B. Ness, Presiding Judge, after he was found guilty of armed robbery on September 21, 1967.
