The defendant, Kenneth Mathis, was arrested on February 26, 1973, and charged with the offense of armed robbery in violation of section 18-2 of the Criminal Code of 1961 (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1973, ch. 38, par. 18-2). He was indicted and tried by a jury in the circuit court of Cook County. A verdict of guilty was returned and on August 30, 1974, the defendant was sentenced to serve 4 to...
