The defendant was charged by indictment with the armed robbery on March 27, 1975, of Gale Welzel, owner of a White Hen Pantry Store in Naperville, and, in a second indictment, with the armed robbery on April 2, 1975, of Walter Harris, Jr., manager of the Open Pantry Food Store in Lisle, Illinois. After separate bench trials, the defendant was convicted of both charges...
