Defendant and one Eugene R. Powell were indicted for (1) setting fire to a barn (N.J.S.A. 2A: 89-2), and (2) conspiring to burn the barn (N.J.S.A. 2A:98-1). Tried alone to a jury (Powell having previously pleaded guilty to the first count), defendant was found guilty of both offenses and sentenced for burning the building to a 364-day term in the Burlington County Jail, with six months to...
