The instant appeal, occasioned by defendant's jury-based conviction for carrying a weapon in a motor vehicle, MCLA 750.227; MSA 28.424, raises inter alia the question whether a machete is a "dangerous weapon" under the cited statute.

In pertinent part, the statute provides: "A person who shall carry a dagger, dirk, stiletto or other dangerous weapon except hunting knives adapted and carried as such, * * * whether concealed or otherwise...
