On December 23, 1964, Vince Mottola and his wife Ada signed a promissory note in favor of Louis Lombardo and his wife Nilda in the amount of $3,000.1 No payment was made on the note at any time. However, on April 12, 1971, a letter was written by Vince Mottola to the Lombardos which stated:
