Taliaferro ("Taliaferro") was convicted after a jury trial in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, of conspiracy to commit bank robbery, 18 U.S.C. § 371, armed bank robbery, 18 U.S.C. § 2113(a) and (d), and the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, 18 U.S.C. § 924(c), all in connection with an armed bank robbery which had taken place on November 12, 1975 in Beaver
